2011 PTN Race 3 Results

The 2011 Pro Truck Nationals (PTN) point series tour concluded with the Season Finale on July 15-16 at West Michigan Sand Dragway in Mears, MI. The dramatic point battle in the Pro Truck class title continued on throughout eliminations coming down to two Michigan racers, Grand Rapids’ Lee Reynders & Grand Haven’s Kip Martin. Both racers were on their game throughout qualifying and eliminations. The deciding round would be the semi-finals as Martin would lose a close battle with Portland, MI’s Neal Swain clinching the title for Reynders. Reynders would then fall in the next pair setting the stage for a first time PTN Pro Truck winner as Swain faced off with Jerseyville, IL’s Eric Gallay. Both drivers would have great RT’s with Swain having a .013 to .016 advantage, but at the stripe Gallay would run closer to his Index with a 3.936 (3.90) for the big win. Gallay’s victory also propelled him past Martin and into second place in the final PTN Pro Truck class standings.

2011 PTN Race 2 Race Results

The 2011 Pro Truck Nationals (PTN) tour continued on with race two of the 300’ sand drag racing series at Little Sandy Raceway in Grayson, KY on June 10-11. The PTN series would see first time winners in all three categories. Mears, MI’s Jim Brantley would face off with Grand Rapids, MI’s Lee Reynders in the final round. The all-Funny Jeep final would see Reynders get a Reaction Time (RT) advantage, however he would get out of shape causing him to lift & hand the win to Brantley, who lifted to a 4.036 on a 3.80 Index. This would be Brantley’s first PTN series Pro Truck class victory. Reynders’ runner-up finish & #1 qualifier (.005 RT) propelled him to the point lead, as incoming point leader Kip Martin went out in round one action. Heading into the Season Finale, Reynders has a nine point lead over a tie between Martin and Mike Page.

Pro Truck Nationals (PTN) kicked off the 2011 300’ sand drag racing season at the IOK 4-Wheelers Grounds in Cleves, OH on May 20-21. Grand Haven, MI’s Kip Martin picked up right where he left off in 2010, right in the winner’s circle. Martin, who won the 2010 Season Finale, pulled off one of the most dominating Pro Truck performances seen to date. Kip qualified in the #1 spot by Reaction Time with a great .409 RT (.400 Perfect) before slicing through the field to face off with fellow Michigander Lee Reynders, of Grand Rapids, in the final round. Both racers had nearly identical Reaction Times, but at the stripe Martin was able to run closer to his Index with a 3.836 on a 3.80. Kip’s second overall PTN Pro Truck class victory has definitely established himself as the man to beat in Pro Truck this season.

2011 PTN Rules Are Now Posted

Pro Truck Nationals (PTN) has released our 2011 rules package. Safety, as always, is a big concern for PTN. This season there are new safety guidelines that we would like the racers in our categories to follow. Please read through the Rules file and make sure you are in compliance to not only the guidelines in the text, but also the Vehicle Inspection sheet at the end of the Rules file. The only other change to the series in 2011 are the additions of several bonus point possibilities to the point structure for the Pro Truck, 3.5, and Pro Outlaw FE classes. PTN Meets Anchor Bay Ice Drags

In late February, several PTN competitors wanted to turn their cars loose and ended up at the Ice Drags on Anchor Bay in Southeast Michigan. The Ice Drags have predominantly been for Snowmobiles and ATV's up until PTN organizer Rich Simon took his Pro Truck Ford Ranger out on the Ice last winter. With the Ranger out of commission this winter; Rich brought in some PTN regulars to put on a show on the Ice. 2009 PTN Pro Truck series champ Ben Dozeman brought out his Bad Company Blown Small Block Chevy-powered Jeep along with Mike Page's Blown SBC-powered Blazer and Trent Everett's Alcohol Injected SBC-powered Funny Jeep. Randy Tripp also brought out his Dragster to represent the VW crowd and see if some off season changes have helped cure the gremlins he fought with the car in 2010. These guys put on a great show and had an awesome time. We want to thank John & Brigitte for their hard work and having us out on the Ice. Read on for more info and photos on this great event.

PTN Sponsors Pro Outlaw FE at Dome Valley

Pro Truck Nationals and Richards Auto Parts recently sponsored the Pro Outlaw FE class during the 2nd Annual AZ vs. CA Top Fuel Shootout at Dome Valley Raceway in Wellton, AZ. PTN was proud to be a part of this event as the Pro Outlaw FE (a staple of the PTN series) was introduced in west coast sand drag action for the first time.
