Pro Truck Nationals and Richards Auto Parts recently sponsored the Pro Outlaw FE class during the 2nd Annual AZ vs. CA Top Fuel Shootout at Dome Valley Raceway in Wellton, AZ. PTN was proud to be a part of this event as the Pro Outlaw FE (a staple of the PTN series) was introduced in west coast sand drag action for the first time.
This class went off as a huge success with eight entries pleasing the crowd with wild FE action. Carey Mahoney would make the long haul from Washington pay off by taking the win, bonus money, and beautiful plaque from Lone Star Graphics home. Carey would qualify #1 with a 2.90, then improve to a 2.85 on his round one single run as David Straub could not make the call. Mahoney would move on to the final round as Jim DePasse's Jeep suffered breakage in round one. In the final round, Mahoney would face off with Geoff Gill in his Larry Minor Motorsports Blown SBC-powered Jeep. Geoff would earlier set a new A/Pro Jeep World Record with a 2.950, however he would not have enough power in the final to stop the "Big Time" Altered. Carey would run Low ET of the weekend with an incredible 2.824 ET. PTN is honored to have had the opportunity to be involved with this excellent event, and we are looking forward to seeing a few of our west coast friends at PTN events in 2011.

Carey Mahoney ended up taking home the big win in Pro Outlaw FE at Dome Valley Raceway.


Geoff Gill drove the Larry Minor Motorsports Jeep to a great runner-up finish, running a best of 2.950 over the course of the weekend.


Event director Mike Erwin competed in the Pro Outlaw FE with his new look Blown Swag Jeep. Mike would end up with a semi-final round finish & best ET of 3.21 on the weekend.


The Rat Poison Jeep of Jim DePasse & Otis Simpson ran their personal best ET of 2.999 as well as a couple of other passes in the 3.0 second with their Larry Minor Motorsports Jeep.


Bob Gill debuted his new look Funny Jeep at the Dome Valley event. This car was rebuilt from scratch over the off season & the results were incredible as Bob would run an amazing 2.88 on his first pass of the weekend.


Frank Prock debuted his new Triple Nickel Blown Altered with a unique sideways engine configuration. Frank ran a best of 3.26 on the weekend.


Clayton Record also competed in the Pro Outlaw FE class with his amazing Larry Minor Motorsports Jeep. He would run well into the 3.4 range with his Naturally Aspirated engine combination.
